POTENTIAL RISKS AND BENEFITS OF INTERMITTENT FASTING IN CANCER PREVENTION AND TREATMENT.

The relationship between T cells and intermittent fasting involves several key aspects: 1. Autophagy: Intermittent fasting triggers a process called autophagy, where cells break down and remove damaged components. This can be particularly beneficial for T cells because it helps remove dysfunctional or worn-out cellular machinery, keeping T cells more effective and healthy(1). 2. Metabolic Flexibility(ketosis) : During fasting periods, the body switches to using stored fats for energy instead of glucose. T cells are known to be highly adaptable to using these fatty acids and ketones as fuel sources. This metabolic flexibility allows T cells to maintain their function and continue patrolling the body for pathogens even when glucose is scarce(2). 3. Stem Cell Renewal: Intermittent fasting has been shown to stimulate the regeneration of hematopoietic stem cells in the bone marrow. These stem cells are responsible for producing new immune cells, including T cells. Enhanced stem cell activit...

Cystic fibrosis

Epidemiology Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic ailment that influences approximately 70,000 folks global as of 2021. While the incidence of CF varies by region, with the best possible prices found in Northern Europe and the United States, developments in diagnosis and remedy have led to multiplied survival rates and a growing populace of adults with CF.  In recent years, researchers have been focusing on growing new treatments to address the underlying genetic defects that reason CF. This has covered gene modifying and gene therapy, which aim to right the genetic mutations accountable for CF. Additionally, precision medicinal drug has been explored as a workable method to tailor redress to character sufferers based on their precise genetic mutations. Despite these advancements, managing the complex and various symptoms of CF remains a challenge.
